Class Response
1. I believe the video we watched in class portrayed Public Relations to be covering up the reality of famous individuals in modern-day society. From watching different television series and movies over the past century, the American Film industry pointed out that PR is only showing the ethically good side of what famous people are living in their life. The video clip explained the true side of how the targeted party is focused on being portrayed in a good light so their audience does not have any negative thoughts about that specific person. I believe that this is extremely accurate in our world today and sheds light on what is really going on behind the scenes of our favorite idols. Everyone in this world faces real problems and this showed how our world is being manipulated to think in a certain manner about the other side of the world.
2. I believe a way to change the publics view of PR is to communicate and express messages in a manner that relates to the common public. Public Relations can be changed by being shown in a manner that a specific party is not only trying to do what is best for themselves but rather the value of helping other individuals with their resources. Public Relations has the power to portray someone in an extremely positive or negative light, but also the ability to do something amazing by giving back to a cause bigger than themselves. Another way that the perception of PR can be changed is through the process of donation. With the financial power and standard of highly successful individuals, financial donations can not only help the perception of an individual or businesses, this can also drive countless others to follow that specific work ethic. Public Image is the route of why many decide to make a good impact, but also many have good intentions within them which can cause a great outcome. The power of Public Relations can do something amazing but the drive to do something for the greater good is exactly what is needed to change the perception of PR entirely.
